lessons and assignments for Art 1 and Advanced Art 1 and 2.
• Designed and taught lessons for Advanced Art 1 and 2 based on a unit written for
self-exploration and identity by integrating several art and media techniques.
Process: a BA Exhibition – Winter 2013
• Curated, set-up, planned, and hosted an exhibition in the GVSU Padnos Art Gallery with a
fellow classmate. This show had our personal artworks along with the works from the students from the Express and Experience Workshop.

• Co-hosted an art workshop for the Rising Star Summer Camp students, giving them an
opportunity to express themselves outside of their classroom environment.

MAEA Annual Conference 2013 – Mackinac Island, Michigan – Fall 2013
Presented the Bridging Communities Workshop that our student chapter hosted last year with Grand Rapids students in at-risk situations. In addition to presenting the workshop twice at this conference, we also attended speaker sessions and participated in other workshops.
Family Day at Grand Valley State University – Fall 2012 & Fall 2013
Created an activity during GVSU’s Family Weekend. Set up two stations to work with students and family members on the Allendale Campus. Students were able creatively express their identity by making lanterns and masks (2012) and making robots and monsters out of recycled materials (2013).
MAEA Annual Conference 2012 – Traverse City, Michigan – Fall 2012
Presented the Identity Workshop that we hosted last year with Grand Rapids’ students in at risk-situations. In addition to presenting the workshop twice at this conference, we also attended speaker sessions and participated in other workshops.
PALS Program Workshops – Spring 2012, Spring 2013, & Fall 2013
Worked with students who are in at-risk home situations. NAEA ran two different workshops for the PALS program at GVSU for mentors and mentees. These workshops used different mediums, with the goal of providing opportunities for students to explore and express their identities.
Alternative Drawing Workshop – Fall 2011
Visited one of our fellow art education students at Walker Charter Academy, the school in which she was placed for her student teaching. We were able to share what we had learned in our intermediate drawing class with the academy students on how to draw a landscape using alternative drawing methods.
