Chicago

I'm a week late on this post, but last Thursday was the semi-annual Chicago trip for us Calder Kids. The bus ride  on the way there was enjoyable, nothing too exciting. When we arrived in the Windy city, the weather was beautiful. A lot of other classmates and students went to the expo at Navy Pier, but unfortunately I did not want to spend the money to get in there.

We walked around the city a bit, just taking in the sites around us. We ended up at the Art Institute of Chicago. We went directly to the modern wing to check out everything that has happened most recent in our lives. Everything was so spectacular.

My favorite, of course was when we visited the Impressionist section of the museum. I found Toulouse-Lautrec and just fell in love as I always do. I'm not sure why, but I always love his works. Especially in the main Moulin Rouge piece, the woman's face is so illuminated with green.

Conference Craziness

So far, We have been working hard for the MAEA conference coming up. We have been struggling because we have a lot to complete, but I know that it will be well worth it. Our grant applications have been returned to us 3 times because not everything was correct so it has been stressful to make sure that everything is completed and then returned promptly. We have been fundraising like crazy to try to get more money to help us pay for the trip/conference, so far we have been fairly successful.

I am really looking forward to the conference, it should be fun. We will learn a lot and hopefully connect with a lot of people for the future. Also, informing everyone about our workshops that we have done with give others ideas for their future lesson plans.
